Kitchen Porter @ The Dude
Via Amsterdam is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our team. This role is a combination of (basic) kitchen tasks, such as buffet preparation and service, mise en place (MEP), and stewarding duties. The ideal candidate will assist the kitchen team with daily operations, ensuring the kitchen is clean, organized, and fully stocked at all times.
A work day includes:
  • Stewarding tasks such as washing and storing of dishes, keeping work spaces neat and clean,
  • Supporting the kitchen team in preparing ingredients and basic cooking tasks, including slicing, chopping, and assembling dishes for the buffet.
  • Ensuring all kitchen surfaces, floors, and equipment are cleaned and sanitized according to health and safety standards.
  • Assisting with unloading and organizing deliveries, storing items correctly, and keeping track of inventory to inform the Head Chef of any shortages.
  • Properly disposing of waste and recycling, ensuring bins are emptied regularly.
  • Following all health and safety regulations, including food hygiene practices, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Working collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

  • You are helpful and a team player, but also know how to keep yourself busy / work independently.
  • Enjoy being in a dynamic work environment, where you have a variety of tasks that you accomplish throughout your shift. 
  • You find it important to work in a clean, tidy and organized environment. 
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Knowledge of basic food hygiene and safety standards is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or stewarding role is preferred but not essential; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Good understanding of English. Dutch is not a requirement.
