Fieldpositioning
In the position of Business Unit Leader, you are responsible as the leader in the field for directing the regional account managers and the resulting outcomes of the business unit. As the Business Unit Leader, you engage in managerial tasks, account management, business development, relationship management, and commercial activities.
Specifically, you are involved in the following tasks per aspect:
Managerial tasks:
- You develop, establish, and direct - together with the team - the commercial BU strategy with clear goals, objectives, and initiatives;
- Ensure alignment with the strategy of the other BUs and further strengthen the Hub team as a whole;
- Ensure active sharing of bids, offers, inquiries, and confirmed transactions by the commercial teams through the intended communication platforms;
- Ensure alignment with other disciplines in the BU on BU strategy;
- Responsible for the business results of the BU (including performance, growth, development of commercial staff, positions, and limits);
- Resolve operational issues on the trading floor and implement sustainable/tactical solutions in the BU;
- Coach and guide the commercial team to accelerate our business while also interacting with suppliers, customers, and other external stakeholders when a more senior presence is desired;
- Act as an example and display the right 'tone at the top' behavior to motivate account managers, create an environment of trust, and encourage them to 'go the extra mile';
- Attract world-class talent to the BU team and align culture with (existing) Interfood values;
- Ensure and encourage competency-based development of commercial talent;
- Responsible for correct commercial staffing in the BU team.
Account management:
- Develop a clear global market vision based on internal and external market information for all business units;
- Define, together with the account managers, the overall direction of BU South, take overall responsibility, and ensure that these fall within the defined limits;
- Cross-product/regional selling;
- Responsibility for account managers to have the right conversation with customers and suppliers;
- Responsible for accurate reporting of the results of the BU.
Business Development & Relationship Management:
- Maintain existing and develop new relationships with strategic suppliers and customers;
- Develop and maintain high-quality relationships with local and regional suppliers and customers;
- Build new business relationships and grow existing relationships;
- Maintain and build multidisciplinary relationships that support the business objectives;
- Identify market opportunities (high level, market trends, macro) that can be translated into actual business by the broader commercial organization;
- Drive change and innovation across the Hub to ensure our organization stays current and relevant with changing times.
Commercial activities:
- Optimize deals through strong negotiation skills;
- Direct, control, and promote the communication of market information, best practices, opportunities for account development, value propositions, and other relevant information;
- Validate accurate entry, proper follow-up of contracts, and ensure efficient contract flow.

Transfer Requirements:
- You hold at least a Bachelor's degree (HBO) in a commercial field;
- Minimum of 8 years demonstrable work experience in a similar position;
- You have experience with account management in the areas of Africa and/or Spain and Italy;
- You have an affinity for leading professionals;
- Proficient in English and French language, Italian and/or Spanish is a plus.
Player Contract Terms
