As a Technical Specialist in Smart Maintenance, you will be at the leading edge of innovation in naval engineering. Your role will be vital in developing, advising on, and engineering specialized solutions throughout research, design, proposal preparation, and project execution. This position requires in-depth expertise in condition monitoring technologies and data analysis relevant to condition-based maintenance of ship machinery. You will need to integrate traditional experience and rule-based methods with contemporary data-driven evaluation systems and software.
Proficiency in various monitoring technologies, sensor functionality, and automation systems will be highly advantageous, especially when selecting and implementing sensors that extend beyond mere machinery condition monitoring. A background in maintenance or asset management will also be beneficial for assessing and optimizing both scheduled and condition-based maintenance activities.
As a recognized expert in your field, you should ideally hold an ISO 18436-2 (III) accreditation or have equivalent proven experience. You will be part of a specialized team involved in research programs, offering both short-term technical consultancy and long-term engineering and implementation support.

• Participating in and supporting Verification and Validation tests and trials during production phases or as part of research initiatives.
• Actively contributing to the advancement of your area of expertise and disseminating findings across various projects.
• Engaging in design reviews and delivering high-quality engineering work within established timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Ensuring all outputs meet the required specifications and standards.
• Contributing to the continuous evaluation and improvement of processes, tools, and knowledge transfer within the department.
To excel as a Technical Specialist in Smart Maintenance, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering, with a strong interest in Electrical Engineering and Automation.
• A minimum of five years of relevant experience, demonstrating significant expertise in condition monitoring, smart maintenance, and complex project environments.
• Possession of ISO 18436-2 (III) certification or equivalent relevant experience.
• Strong collaborative skills with research institutes, universities, engineers, and project and tender managers in naval shipbuilding or related fields.
• Proficiency in both Dutch and English, both written and spoken.
• Strong references are essential, as a pre-employment security screening is a standard part of the recruitment process.
Important:
• Permanent EU citizenship and a valid passport are required. Candidates with only an EU work visa or those holding both EU and non-EU nationality/passport are not eligible due to the military nature of our projects.
