At our large hotel and event venue in Amsterdam, the high level of service comes first. This means that you make guest after guest feel welcome, help them with their luggage and provide them with all the information about the hotel and the city. Taking it easy is not an option, and as a receptionist you will experience the dynamic and hectic pace of the day with a smile. At Mövenpick we make moments, do you?

Be limitless
You are the first and last contact of our guests. Therefore, you make sure they feel welcome, and the positive feeling stays during their stay. "Oh, you want to spend a day in a museum in Amsterdam today? How wonderful," and immediately, you enthusiastically engage help them. You offer the guest various options and provide them with tickets. If a guest wants to leave their luggage with you, you kindly assist them. Everything with a smile and empathy, even during complains. You are always in the spotlight and perform on the stage of Mövenpick. You work hard, even if your shift is running a bit later, for the guests that will choose our hotel again. There are no limits to your abilities. In addition, you will be:



  • assisting hotel guests upon arrival and departure by helping with luggage transportation.

  • organizing taxis for our guests;

  • providing advice on tourist activities in Amsterdam and making reservations for restaurants and booking tickets;

  • make sure that the lobby always looks presentable.

  • the point of contact for all questions in the hotel, from a to z;

  • the face of our hotel.



In this role, you will work different shifts. The shifts may start at 06:30, 08:00, or perhaps a mid-shift from 11:00. You don't mind working weekends.

You will work in a hotel that works together with the Passenger Terminal Amsterdam, a total combined conference space of over 1900 m2, including 11 modern and spacious conference and directors’ rooms. Through the emergence of ijVENUES, Amsterdam’s new exhibition centre, everything only becomes bigger and better. On a lovely, sunny day, you can choose between a 10-minute walk or a 5-minute cycle ride from the central station. Or you can hop on the tram from the other side of our hotel. In short: we have it all.

Don’t work. Do what you love instead
A warm feeling is what you offer the guests, during their entrance, their stay and when they leave.  In the lobby, you start conversations with guests who are waiting for check-in and check-out. You are willing to take the time for guests, always answering all their questions seriously and comprehensively. You show empathy when needed. And your humour? You make good use of that when the situation calls for it. We enjoy having fun with our guests. You must have:



  • knowledge about Amsterdam to share this with our quests;

  • preferably knowledge of the Opera IT system and Tours & Tickets system;  

  • fluent written and spoken knowledge of the English language, and preferably the Dutch language as well.

  • an hourly gross wage between €14,41 and €14,99 in accordance with scale 5 of the Collective Labour Agreement of 2025-2026 for the Dutch hospitality and catering industry. This might be different if <20 years old;

  • flexibility in your schedule with a 0-hour contract;

  • a commuting allowance up to €200 per month, on the basis of the actual number of kilometres;

  • a night-shift allowance of 20% and a Sunday allowance of 5%;

Mövenpick Hotel Amsterdam City Centre opened her doors in September 2006.
The hotel is situated on the ‘IJ’ between the Passengers Terminal and the “Muziekgebouw”.
