As a Meeting & Events Manager you will be responsible for the successful event planning and overall execution of all Meeting & Events that take place within Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The Meeting & Events Manager will interact frequently with customers and guests to learn about their needs and develop relationships from which to earn repeat and expanded business and meeting conversion targets.

Located on Apollolaan in Amsterdam South, overlooking the intersection of five canals, you will find the Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel. With a unique interior, thoughtful amenities and an excellent city center location, this is the perfect place to stay. Our hotel is within walking distance of numerous museums, parks and the Amsterdam RAI convention center. Close by you will find the Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum and Dam Square. Our guests enjoy fine French cuisine at The Living Room by Bodon and international favorites at The Harbor Club Amsterdam Zuid, the place to eat in Amsterdam. In addition, the hotel offers several options for events, including a roof terrace and an outstanding ballroom, all supported by expert catering.
SOME OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maximise occupancy and average rates through well-executed inventory and yield management control.
Maximise all Meeting, Conference, Events revenue opportunities.
Guide and lead coordination with relevant departments to deliver guests expectations in groups, meetings and events performance.
Handling new enquiries and negotiating group room rates, meeting room rental, food and beverage prices and hotel services in line with the hotel’s sales strategies and financial goals
Actively converting event enquiries into confirmed business and to develop future and repeat business from all accounts.
Responsible for planning and preparing all event documentation and coordinating with sales, hotel departments and customer to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout pre-event, event and post-event phases of hotel events.
Review business plans, identify gaps and coordinate proactive sales team efforts to fill capacity and meet set targets in line with the commercial strategy.
Manage and develop the meeting and events team
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices to continuously improve our event offerings.
Annual accountability for the Meeting & Events budget, including forecasting, allocation and cost management.
Ensure client feedback received are actioned efficiently and follow up on opportunities & resolution
WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU THE PERFECT CANDIDATE?
You have at least 3 years of experience in event management.
You have completed a bachelor’s degree in hospitality or an equivalent of this.
You have previously worked with Opera Sales & Catering.
You have good knowledge of the Dutch and English language in word and writing
You have a creative and positive mindset and don’t take “no” for an answer
