As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing your assigned scope within a project. Drawing on your experience, you will take on a mentoring and guiding role within the engineering team. You will ensure the effective and timely completion of design phases — from initial concepts through to detailed technical documentation — across 3D models, schematics, and data sheets. You are accountable for the quality of the engineering work delivered under your scope, with a solid understanding of the challenges involved in multidisciplinary shipbuilding environments. Additionally, you’ll support department growth by mentoring junior staff, refining technical standards in collaboration with management, and fostering technical innovation.

Technical Responsibilities


 Ensure that all work complies with technical specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable industry regulations.
 Evaluate the buildability and technical feasibility of the vessel in close coordination with other disciplines.
 Make sure all design work meets the requirements of classification societies and flag states.
 Recognize and address technical challenges early, offering cross-disciplinary solutions where appropriate.
 Notify the Project Engineer of any missing data, technical inconsistencies, or issues affecting the scope.
 Contribute to the evolution of internal standards and best practices.
 Follow established procedures and standards for safety, quality, and environmental compliance throughout the design process.
 Provide guidance and coaching to engineers while ensuring information, specifications, and any changes are processed accurately and on time.
 Conduct thorough checks of engineering outputs — including drawings and technical documents — before release to production or external stakeholders.
 Take ownership of delivering your engineering work within the project’s timeline.
 Maintain an awareness of the allocated hours and resources for your assigned tasks.
 Regularly interact with Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers, Project Engineers, and Engineering Project Managers to report progress and align design decisions.
 Exchange technical expertise with peers to contribute to innovation and quality improvements.
 Coordinate closely with other disciplines to ensure alignment in design and execution.
 When needed, engage with suppliers, subcontractors, and external parties — always in collaboration with the Lead Engineer or Project Engineer.
 Collaborate with the Production team to verify the practical applicability of engineering outputs and gather field feedback.
 In some cases, you may support production directly by aligning engineering activities with manufacturing schedules and resolving production-related issues.
Functie-eisen
 Higher professional education level (HBO) or equivalent work experience.
 Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical engineering, or 3 years in a senior engineering position in a comparable setting.
 Fluent in both written and spoken English.
 Solid understanding of electrical systems in the context of yacht construction.
 Familiarity with production processes and practical aspects of part fabrication.
 Proficiency in CAD and PLM tools (such as AutoCAD and Teamcenter).
 Knowledge of industry standards, including those from classification societies and regulatory bodies concerning safety, quality, and environmental protection.
