As a (Junior) Mechanical Project Engineer, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the development of piping systems used in the construction of luxury yachts. These systems are installed on vessels being built at high-end shipyards in the Netherlands. Since every yacht is unique, each project brings its own level of complexity and innovative challenges. In this role, you’ll work closely with engineers from various disciplines, such as structural, interior, and exterior design. You’ll also maintain regular contact with colleagues at the outfitting yards, giving you the chance to see your engineering work come to life during the actual build process.

Key responsibilities include:


• Engaging actively with the project team regarding technical matters, project data, and scheduling;
• Coordinating and reviewing engineering work, while updating the Project Manager on progress;
• Contributing hands-on as an engineer in certain parts of the project;
• Designing piping layouts in 3D using Cadmatic — for example, for engine rooms, HVAC systems, and plumbing;
• Utilizing cutting-edge 3D tools, smart software, and component databases in your design process;
• Spotting technical challenges early and suggesting practical, interdisciplinary solutions.
• Each team member handles a dedicated portion of the engineering scope. Together, you ensure seamless integration across disciplines, enabling smooth execution on the shop floor.
• You’ll report directly to the Project Manager, who guides the team throughout the engineering phase.
Functie-eisen
• You have completed a technical MBO+ or HBO (Bachelor-level) education in mechanical engineering or a similar relevant field.
• You bring at least 3 years of relevant experience in shipbuilding or yacht construction.
• You’re familiar with onboard piping systems such as fuel distribution, HVAC, and other key utilities.
• You have solid knowledge of manufacturing techniques and understand how to design components with production feasibility in mind, while following applicable rules and standards.
• You’re aware of class society and flag state regulations, as well as safety, quality, and environmental guidelines.
• You are confident working with both 2D and 3D CAD tools — such as Aveva, Catia, Siemens NX, or Cadmatic.
• Experience with Cadmatic Outfitting specifically is considered an advantage.
