About the job
As an experienced Purchasing Manager, you will support and manage our purchase team within an innovative and international organization. You will lead the procurement department transformation, with strategic sourcing initiatives, time to market reduction for NPI’s using partners, develop the supplier base, executing cost improvement programs and sustainable sourcing. You will drive strong results and ensure the growth and development of the organization. The team consists of 3 people and you will report to the CEO.
Position and Responsibilities
- Develop, review, and implement a 3–5 year procurement (category) roadmap aligned with strategy and policy to drive both top- and bottom-line impact.
- Continuously monitor the market to identify new suppliers, processes, products, and industry trends that drive improvement and innovation.
- Source, select, and contract (new) suppliers with focus on cost reduction, cash flow, supply continuity, sustainability, and innovation, in compliance with T&C’s.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic partners and collaborate cross-functionally (R&D, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance) to align procurement objectives with business needs and ensure reliable supply chains.
- Optimize procurement policies and processes across the full lifecycle (from NPI to end-of-life), while identifying and mitigating risks such as supply disruptions, non-compliance, and quality issues.
- Analyze and monitor spend data and procurement KPIs to ensure budget compliance, optimize costs, and drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and promote sustainability, quality, health, safety, and environmental standards within the supply base.
- Lead, coach, and develop the team by executing strategic plans, setting performance objectives, and fostering a safe, motivating environment.
What we are looking for
- Bachelor or MSc degree in Supply Chain management Economics, Business and/or Engineering with a CIPS or NEVI certification
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in procurement within a high-tech environment, with complex supply chains (medical, automotive, aerospace or defense)
- A coaching and motivating leadership style, with a focus on team development
- Leadership and stakeholder management
- A proven track record in developing and implementing procurement strategies and supplier performance transformations
- Analytical skills, a pragmatic approach and the ability to simplify the complex
- A competitive, commercial and results-driven spirit
- Hands-on mentality, able to switch between execution and strategic helicopter-view
- Communication skills, both verbally and written in English and preferably Dutch and German. Intercultural communication and negotiation skills are a must
- Willingness to travel frequently
