Startup dev/engineer #1 @ ai startup build the future of msps

Werkgever:

Functieomschrijving

Looking for a developer who thinks "I could build that better" when using any enterprise software.

What We're Building

Ekkie.ai is turning the IT industry's most painful tools (think Autotask, ServiceNow) into AI-powered systems that actually work. We're not just adding a chatbot - we're rebuilding how 50,000+ Managed Service Providers handle support, sales, and operations. starting with support.

Translation: You'll be building AI that saves real engineers hours every day, starting next week.

Why This Role Will Ruin You for Corporate Jobs Forever

You'll be employee #1 (technically #3, but who's counting). Here's what that actually means:

  • Ship to production on day one. No 6-month onboarding. No "let's have you fix some bugs first."
  • Own entire product verticals. Build the virtual queue module? It's yours. AI workflow engine? Also yours.
  • Direct customer access. You'll be on calls with MSP engineers using your code in real time.
  • Architecture decisions. Help design a system that needs to be GDPR-compliant, EU-hosted, and handle enterprise security from day one.
  • AI/ML integration. Fine-tune models, build prompt systems, integrate LLM APIs - not just call OpenAI and pray.
The Technical Reality

Stack: Python, Azure, enterprise integrations (Autotask, Microsoft 365, Dynamics) Challenges: Real-time data processing, secure multi-tenant architecture, AI that actually works reliably Scale: Supporting MSPs managing thousands of endpoints each

This isn't another React CRUD app. You'll be solving problems like:

  • How do you train AI on confidential IT tickets?
  • How do you integrate with 30-year-old enterprise software?
  • How do you make automation that MSPs trust with their biggest clients?
What We Want

Must Have:

  • Full-stack development skills (if you can build it, you can probably figure out our stack)
  • Experience with SaaS/B2B/enterprise integrations (bonus points for horror stories)
  • Comfortable with AI/ML concepts OR the curiosity to learn fast
  • Based in NL/BE or willing to move (we're in the Netherlands)

Honestly More Important:

  • You see broken software and think "I can fix this"
  • You want to build something that matters, not just collect a paycheck
  • You're excited about being responsible for things that would terrify most developers
  • You want to learn more in 6 months than most devs learn in 2 years
The Honest Truth About This Role

Let's be completely transparent: this isn't your typical graduate program.

While your classmates are optimizing for €45k+ at consultancies or big tech graduate schemes, this will probably pay less initially. If you want predictable career progression and corporate training programs, this isn't it.

What you get instead:

  • Equity package that could be life-changing (being first has serious upside)
  • Technical ownership of entire product verticals
  • Direct founder access and actual influence on company direction
  • Real customer impact - your code will be used by thousands of MSPs within months
  • EU base with competitive startup salary (but yes, probably less than FAANG)
The 5-10 Year Journey

We're not hiring someone to fill a role. We're looking for someone who wants to help build a company from zero over the next decade.

This means:

  • Year 1: You'll be building core product, establishing architecture, shipping fast
  • Years 2-3: You'll be hiring and leading engineering teams
  • Years 5-10: You'll be the technical leader of a company that transformed an entire industry

The question is: Does the chance to architect how 50,000+ IT companies work outweigh immediate financial rewards?

Reality Check

This is for developers who think:

  • "I could build that entire system better" when using enterprise software
  • "I want to own something, not just contribute to it"
  • "I'd rather have 1% of something huge than 0.1% of something established."

If you're looking for work-life balance and six-figure salaries, keep scrolling. If you want to build something that matters and own your impact, let's talk.

Ready to break some enterprise software? Send us your GitHub, a quick note on why this sounds interesting, and maybe something you've built that you're proud of.

No cover letters. No "dear hiring manager." Just show us you can build things.

Modern workplaces run on MSPs. Modern MSPs run on ekkie.ai.
