As European Sales Manager (DACH plus area: Germany, Austria, Switserland plus additional geographies), you maintain existing customer relationships, identify new growth markets, and actively engage new customers and partners in the industries that are important to us, such as semiconductors, electronics, personal care, energy, polymers, and specialty chemicals.
A selection of tasks related to sales development and account management:
• Developing, implementing, and executing the European sales strategy
• Building long-term relationships with customers, agents, and distributors
• Identifying new market opportunities in existing and adjacent markets
• Regular customer visits, technical discussions, and commercial negotiations
• Following up on leads, preparing quotes, and conducting negotiations
• Collaborating with internal teams (Customer Service, product development)
• Leading and coordinating key account activities within the region, supported by technical and product teams
• Monitoring market trends, customer needs, competitor activities, and price developments
• Recording detailed visit reports in the CRM system, market analyses, and sales forecasts
• Supporting forecasts, budgeting, and strategic sales initiatives within the region
• Contributing to credit assessments and risk mitigation plans for key accounts
Part of your responsibilities:
• Drafting and issuing commercial proposals and quotes
• Negotiating prices, contracts and terms in coordination with the Marketing & Sales Director
• Managing the regional pricing strategy within the agreed guidelines
• Appointing and evaluating local agents/distributors in consultation with the Marketing & Sales Director
Education and experience:
• University diploma (BSc or MSc) in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Business Administration, or a related technical/commercial discipline
• Minimum 3-7 years of experience in international sales (B2B), preferably in the chemical industry or technology-driven markets
• Excellent command of the German language (native) and good knowledge of English
• Strong negotiation skills and a proactive, independent attitude in managing technical sales cycles, key accounts, or distribution networks
• Insight into chemicals with a high degree of purity, specialty materials, or formulation-based industries is a strong plus
• Knowledge of GMP, REACH, or other legal requirements is an advantage
• Willingness to travel within the DACH region and in other assigned regions (30-50%)
