Our client is a leading manufacturer of capital equipment solutions for the food industry. Known for its combination of precision engineering and strong operational performance, the organization is currently seeking a Business Controller. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine financial expertise with commercial impact in an international, project-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Control
- Manage financial performance of multiple ICS projects, ensuring accurate cost allocation, margin visibility, and compliance with accounting policies.
- Collaborate with project managers to validate costs, manage variations, and prepare reliable estimates-to-completion (ETC).
- Monitor project progress, identifying risks and opportunities to ensure projects deliver on financial targets.
Financial Reporting & Planning
- Lead monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of reporting in JD Edwards (JDE).
- Prepare monthly forecasts, quarterly outlooks, and annual budgets; analyse variances against plan and prior years.
- Support the development of long-term financial plans for the ICS business.
Business Partnering
- Act as a trusted advisor to the General Manager and project teams, providing actionable insights to support operational and commercial decisions.
- Drive pricing and margin improvement initiatives through robust financial analysis.
- Translate complex financial performance into clear, business-focused messages for non-finance stakeholders.
Audit, Tax & Compliance
- Support external audits, statutory reporting, and Group tax submissions.
- Ensure compliance with Dutch GAAP, US GAAP, and internal controls; drive continuous process improvements.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 3–5 years’ post-qualification experience
- Strong background in project accounting, FP&A, and project-based manufacturing or service businesses
- Proficiency with JD Edwards (JDE) or similar ERP system, plus advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Solid knowledge of Dutch GAAP and US GAAP, including revenue recognition for long-term projects
- Experience working in international matrix organisations
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, able to collaborate across functions and cultures while confidently challenging decision-makers
- Analytical thinker who can simplify complex data into clear insights for business impact
- Proactive, hands-on, and adaptable, able to thrive in fast-paced international environments with multiple priorities
Languages
- Fluent in Dutch and English.
