The Field Service Engineer (FSE) serves as the primary company representative to perform work at customer locations. The FSE installs company products, performs preventive maintenance, performs diagnostics & troubleshooting, and repairs for all company products. The Micromeritics Customer Experience mission is accomplished through the field service organization.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain the health and safety of our employees, customers, and communities as a top priority.
  • Adheres to the company code of ethics and professional engineering standards.
  • Travels within their assigned territory by car, train, or plane and provides installation and support of Micromeritics’ instruments.
  • Performs service activities in conformance with (GLP) good laboratory practices.
  • Maintains prompt professional communications with customers and internal staff and provides customer support to customers via phone and/or email.
  • Perform field-based maintenance and repair of all company instruments.
  • Performs field-based inspection and troubleshooting.
  • Conducts repairs of instruments, orders, and replaces place parts or components for malfunctioning instruments.
  • Completes reports, logs and service documentation and repairs in conformance to good laboratory practices.
  • Actively promotes company service products and offerings and markets company service products and contracts.
  • Provide service reports related to product reliability/warranty.
  • Contributes to documentation and records by revising up-to-date manuals, service notes, drawings, and other materials required to maintain best practices.
  • Responsible for maintaining assigned equipment and tools, including company vehicles, parts, IT devices, and documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and organised spare parts inventories, tools, and safety supplies.
  • REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience installing, performing maintenance, troubleshooting and supporting end-user utilisation of particle characterization or scientific instruments.
  • Associate degree, or 2+ years specialised training of electrical systems, mechatronics, industrial systems, or related fields.
  • Understands electronic systems technology including circuits, wiring/connectors, analog/digital communications, power adapters and transformers.
  • Understands mechanical and plumbing systems including gas distribution, flow and pressure chambers.
  • Knows how to use various testing devices such as multi meters, flow meters, and other tools used to measure electronic and mechanical systems.
