Responsibilities
As the Proposal Lead Electrical & Automation (E&A) in the Proposals department, you will be responsible for the conceptual and contract design of electrical and automation systems (e.g. power generation and distribution, propulsion, platform automation, cable installations, navigation systems, etc.) for advanced naval vessels, ensuring compliance with all applicable requirements and regulations. Working as the E&A Proposal Lead within a multidisciplinary tender team, you will develop innovative electrical & automation design solutions that form part of a commercially competitive and attractive proposal. Leveraging your strong numerical insight and writing skills, you will be able to justify your figures and solutions in a persuasive, customer-focused document. Following a successful tender, you will ensure a smooth handover of your work to the engineering team for detailed design and execution. This role requires regular travel between the engineering offices located in Vlissingen and Schiedam. The official job title for this position is Proposal Engineer Electrical & Automation. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the primary focal point for Electrical & Automation topics within the Tender project team. Lead the Electrical & Automation Tender Engineering team throughout the proposal phase. Define general system architectures (Single Line Diagrams, Automation Architectures), as well as weight, power, and cost estimates, electrical load balances, and (propulsion) system configurations as part of the tender design package. Contribute to requirements analysis, draft electrical & automation engineering specifications, and support subcontractor quotation requests and evaluations for preliminary equipment selection and budgeting. Assess proposed designs against customer and regulatory requirements and prepare the corresponding evaluation reports. Write technical documents, contract specifications, and reports that clearly convey complex concepts and technical data to customers and subcontractors. Participate in discussions with customers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders on both technical and commercial elements of the proposed solutions. Support the review and validation of cost estimates provided by subcontractors and internal stakeholders. Requirements
Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects. 3+ years of relevant experience in electrical design concepts and practices, preferably in complex maritime (tender) projects. Lead a small project team of engineers. Excellent writing skills, able to deliver compelling text, figures and calculations encompassing very specific technical details and specifications. A commercial mind-set to deliver viable yet attractive technical and financial forecasts and propositions. Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Excellent command of the English language both written and verbal, preferably also Dutch. Willingness to learn Dutch is a job requirement. Willingness to travel abroad occasionally. Willingness to regularly travel to Vlissingen and Schiedam office locations. Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
