As an Engineer in Offshore & Shipbuilding, you play a crucial role in creating safe, sustainable and efficient projects on or offshore. From shipbuilding to floating offshore platforms.
Responsibilities
Gather, translate and adjust design information into fabrication documents. Develop construction methods and construction sequences. Provide clear, user-friendly documents, contributing to safe and quality manufacturing. Create lift procedures for hoisting, tilting, and transporting sections and components of projects, including the following: Weight calculation; Lifting plan (cranes and logistics); Calculation of lifting devices; Stress control of the parts to be lifted; Details of the lifting equipment to be used. All in accordance with applicable standards, specifications, and legislation Create procedures for temporary supports and auxiliary structures for assembling sections and components of projects, including the following: Weight calculations; Stress control; Plan and details; Foundation details and ground pressure. Coordinate input from load-out subcontractors, assess feasibility, and develop load-out methods with the associated auxiliary structures. Perform and periodically review "weight control" for the determination of weight and center of gravity of projects. Assist with queries and provide support to fabrication and team members. In consultation with Project Engineer and Construction Manager provide advice on building sequence, technical exceptional requirements and alternative design options to optimize the technical concept. (Additional tasks): Create yard layouts and assembly hall layouts Equipment development and innovation.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Maritime Engineering (or equivalent). Experience: At least 5 years in fabrication engineering, heavy steel construction, or offshore projects. Skills: Knowledge of lifting plans, temporary structures, and assembly methods. Familiar with weight calculations, stress checks, and construction sequencing. Experience with structural analysis tools (e.g. SCIA) is a plus, MathCAD, Excel etc. Understanding of relevant standards (e.g. Eurocode, DNV). Mindset: Practical, hands-on, communicative, and solution-oriented.
