What are you going to do

?

Tasks and responsibilities:
You will contribute to the development of the institute’s research profile by carrying out cutting-edge research in responsible advice giving systems, publish research results in international, peer-reviewed publications, acquire external funds for research projects from sources such as the Dutch national funding agency NWO, EU funding via Horizon Europe, via public-private partnerships, and other relevant organizations. Moreover, you will supervise student research at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, teach courses within the bachelor and masters programs in AI (teaching is approximately 30% of the position’s total time), and engage in outreach activities.

What do you have to offer?

Your experience and profile:
You should have a PhD in a relevant discipline, a strong publication record as evidenced by international peer-reviewed publications, proven ability to obtain research funding, excellent teaching skills as well as the ability to supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Moreover, you have an excellent command of written and spoken English, the Dutch University Teaching Qualification (UTQ/BKO) or willingness to acquire this within the first two years, and the willingness to learn Dutch.

Our offer

We offer a temporary employment contract for 38 hours per week with a tenure track agreement for the duration of 5 years, ending at the level of associate professor. The arrangement is such that after a maximum of three years and positive assessment and evaluation you will be offered a permanent position while the track continues towards the level of associate professor.

The preferred starting date is to be discussed.

The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and dependent on relevant experience, ranges between € 4, to € 6,. This does not include the 8% holiday allowance and the 8,3% year-end allowance the UvA offers. The UFO profile Lecturer is applicable. A favourable tax agreement, the ‘30% ruling’, may apply to non-Dutch applicants. The Collective Labour Agreement of Universities of the Netherlands is applicable.
