Brenntag is undergoing a group-wide transformation to deliver profitable organic growth and sustained group efficiencies. Data & Analytics is a key pillar which will allow us to ‘liberate’ our data and thus improve our decision-making at speed.
As part of the Data & Analytics extended leadership team, this role has accountability for the creation of Advanced Analytics solutions to enable decision-making throughout Brenntag.
You will lead the Advanced Analytics team which is responsible for designing, developing and implementing analytics products utilized for decision making. Your ambition is to create a team of highly skilled data scientists, who actively engage in knowledge and best practice sharing. Our Advanced Analytics team is the key in allowing us to leverage algorithmic-driven decisions and actions. You are responsible for making sure they work according to the highest quality standards, and help the team define the problem statement, as well as design, develop and deploy high-impact analytics products.
YOUR ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with stakeholder to explore opportunities to develop data-driven solutions by developing and utilizing statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms Partner with business teams to translate and package analytical findings into compelling business plans for action and business impact Build trust and drive business adoption by demystifying solution intricacies for stakeholders Guide and oversee development and execution for advanced analytics solutions that lead to improved performance and accomplishment of strategic and/or operational goals Manage, mentor, and inspire a team and team members; managing performance, goals and development potential, and evaluating potential new talent Validate appropriate models to discover meaningful patterns and insights Build and adopt new best practices and processes for end-to-end development and deployment of advanced analytics models and solutions Collaborate with a team of data scientists, product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to take an opportunity or pain point from concept to scaled solution Serve as subject matter expert on modelling, data and business processes within area of focus Evaluate potential new talent Stay abreast of and apply industry and technology trends as well as emerging tools and techniques relevant to discipline Drive a continuous learning environment within the advanced analytics community through persistent development of new skills and sharing of knowledge through mentorships and contributions to the open source community
YOUR PROFILE
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in a quantitative field such as computer science, statistics, mathematics, operations research, behavioral sciences or related field 6+ years‚ of experience as a Data Scientist Strong people management capability, 2+ years of working in a leadership role preferred Experience with various programming languages (Python, R) In-depth knowledge of applied data science Strong experience of both probability and statistics A firm understanding of mathematics (including the role of algorithm theory in machine learning and complex algorithms that are needed to help machines learn and communicate) Experience with various hyperparameter tuning approaches, databases and cloud technology. Extensive experience to communicate analysis results and subsequent impact to technical/non-technical audiences in both verbal and written form Collaborative individual who thrives in a team environment, specifically within a matrix organization Innovator and creative problem solver to tackle complicated issues Analytical, critical thinker with a bias for action Working understanding with CRISP-DM, Agile data science framework and XP Programming, and how they're applied in workplace culture
