Document Controller – Rotterdam, Netherlands


Contract Duration: Initial 12-month contract working via Leap29, after the 12 months you will go into a potential permanent position.


My client is a leading global consultancy renowned for delivering complex engineering solutions across the energy and chemical sectors. With a growing portfolio of international projects, they are expanding their Document Control team to support a major long-term assignment based in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Role Overview

As a Document Controller, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating project documentation throughout the full lifecycle, from design through to handover. You will ensure that all documentation is accurately processed, stored, and distributed in line with client and project requirements.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support document flow across engineering design disciplines, project management teams, and client site operations.
  • Issue project deliverables to internal teams and clients using the designated Document Control System.
  • Manage project documentation in both electronic and hard copy formats, ensuring version control and traceability.
  • Expedite vendor documentation and ensure timely submission in accordance with project schedules.
  • Coordinate project handover (H/O) packages in line with client procedures and specifications.
  • Conduct internal audits and raise corrective actions in compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and contractors to ensure complete and accurate handover documentation.
  • Maintain and update document control systems, including cloud-based platforms and document retention systems.
  • Ensure compliance with project-specific document control procedures and standards.
  • Provide support during project reviews and audits, ensuring documentation is audit-ready.


Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Document Controller on large-scale engineering projects, ideally within the petrochemical or chemical sectors.
  • Strong understanding of Document Control Systems, including cloud-based platforms and electronic document management systems (EDMS).
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 certification processes and quality management systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Access.
  • Experience with Aconex is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
