Work
that matters Connecting talented employees to employers Every day
we offer meaningful work to more than 15,000 people. We are there
for practically trained people in executive professions. People who
make something, who do something. The drivers, mechanics, operators
and order pickers. The callcenter employee, the service employee
and the commercial employee. We don't mediate people for once, we
make work of their work. We work on connecting people with work
that makes them happy, that they are good at. We help change as the
world changes. We work on development. By letting people discover
their motives and talents. By connecting them with an employer
where they can get the best out of themselves. With jobs,
internships, knowledge and training. Because we want people to have
work that matters for the next twenty
years.
You ensure that your passengers reach their
destination safely and on time. But Bus driver’s work goes much
further than that. Online 22, for example, you are the familiar
face for people from the East Indies neighborhood who go shopping.
And online 369 from Schiphol you welcome tourists to Amsterdam. And
that while you are driving the very latest electric bus. The bus is
your domain in which you make a hospitable contribution to pleasant
transport for everyone.
You start your day
at one of the garages. Your first year of service you have day
shifts. This means that you work between 04:00 and 01:00. The
coffee at GVB is good, so while you pour it again, you talk to some
colleagues. Then you will make your way to your bus and start the
first ride of the day.
You usually drive on
a number of different lines per day, for a maximum of 4 hours in a
row. Then you have a break at an end point. Here you eat something,
take a rest and meet other drivers. If you have an electric bus,
you can charge it in between. In the bus you also check tickets,
address passengers about their behavior and answer
questions.
Sylvester,
Public Transport bus driver via Olympia at GVB: “Being a bus driver
is fantastic. I see Amsterdam waking up and going back to bed. For
me, this work is a childhood dream. It is so cool to drive an 18
meter long bus right through Amsterdam. I also really enjoy all
those different people. Every day is full of little
surprises”.
Your
heart beats faster at the idea that you are in control of a large
diesel or electric bus. And of course you are hospitable and
customer-friendly. We also
