What You Will Do
As an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Advisor with a focus on Human and Organizational Performance (HOP), your role would typically involve ensuring the safety and well-being of employees, the community, and the environment.
Key responsibility of this role are:
•Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the company complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. This involves staying up-to-date with legislation, conducting audits, and preparing reports.
• Policy Development and Implementation: Develop and implement EHS policies and procedures tailored to the company's needs, ensuring that they align with industry best practices and HOP principles.
• Risk Assessment and Management: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement control measures to mitigate these risks. Incorporate HOP concepts to understand how human factors contribute to errors and improve system resilience.
• Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees about EHS policies, emergency procedures, and HOP principles. Encourage a culture of safety and proactive reporting of near-misses and unsafe conditions.
• Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace incidents and accidents, focusing on identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions. Use HOP principles to understand human error and system interactions.
• Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback, conducting regular safety meetings, and using data to drive decision-making. Implement HOP strategies to enhance performance and reduce errors.
• Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other departments, management, and external agencies to promote EHS initiatives and ensure a collaborative approach to safety and performance improvements.
• Program Management: Oversee EHS programs such as emergency response, waste management, ergonomics, and occupational health, incorporating HOP insights to enhance effectiveness and employee engagement.
• Performance Metrics and Reporting: Track and report on key EHS performance metrics, using this data to inform strategic decisions and highlight areas for improvement.
• Cultural Development: Promote and integrate HOP principles across the organization to develop a culture that prioritizes safety, encourages learning, and views errors as opportunities for improvement.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental science, occupational health, safety management, engineering, or a related field is commonly required.
