The Legal Counsel will support the organization on a broad range of legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and managing legal risks across our R&D, commercial, and international operations. This role requires a pragmatic, business-oriented advisor with a strong foundation in Dutch law, particularly in areas such as contract law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including R&D agreements, licensing, joint ventures, NDAs, supplier and customer contracts, and employment contracts.
  • Support negotiations and help speed up legal processes with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Advise internal stakeholders (R&D, procurement, HR, executive leadership) on legal risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Support intellectual property protection, including patent strategy and technology transfer agreements, in collaboration with the IP team.
  • Ensure compliance with Dutch, EU, and international legal and regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, competition law, IP rights).
  • Provide day-to-day legal support across the company in an accessible and clear manner.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Dutch Law (either acceptable; focus on commercial, contract, employment, or IP law preferred).
  • 3-7 years of post-qualification experience, ideally in-house in a technology-driven or R&D environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Dutch law; experience with cross-border legal matters is a plus.
  • Fluent in English (essential); Dutch strongly preferred.
  • High integrity, independent thinking, and strong interpersonal skills are important.
