We are looking for a senior layout engineer to support the Vanderlande Airports Project Engineering Department, responsible for the design, specification, and commissioning of baggage systems for our customers in Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America.

As a senior layout engineer, you can lead a team of layout engineers and work closely with the mechanical project engineers to translate a sales design into an engineering design. You are able to think on an abstract conceptual level and dive into design details. You have knowledge of Vanderlande equipment, a good understanding of the impact of design decisions on price and functionality, and the ability to plan the work.

The Project Engineering department is responsible for the worldwide execution of projects in which the different components of our material handling systems are implemented. Working under the supervision of a project leader, you will closely work with the mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers.

To be successful in this role, you have at least a MBO degree in a technical area, such as Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics Engineering.

Responsibilities include:

  • Create detailed 3D models using BIM software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks to develop accurate digital representations of systems.
  • Collaborate with professionals to gather necessary information and ensure design accuracy.
  • Update and modify models based on updated plans and specifications.
  • Generate construction documentation by extracting 2D drawings and details from 3D models.
  • Run clash detection to identify conflicts or discrepancies in the models.
  • Maintain BIM standards to ensure all models comply with project BIM standards and protocols.
  • Assist with scheduling and cost estimation using BIM software.
  • Develop BIM standards to contribute to the enhancement of BIM standards and best practices within the organization.

Requirements include:

  • Proficiency in BIM software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in models and documentation.
  • Technical knowledge of material handling systems, interfacing with buildings and other MEP systems.
  • Communication skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with various stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving ability to troubleshoot BIM issues and provide solutions.
  • Graduate in a relevant engineering field and possess BIM software certifications.
