We are looking for an experiencedEngineering Leader for our Cryptocurrency technology initiatives, driving end-to-end solutions from architecture design to running on production while collaborating with Product teams and contributing hands-on code. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with an experimental mindset to translate business requirements into strategic technical vision while maintaining high standards for code quality and system stability.
What you'll be doing
Operational Management & Efficiency- Responsible for daily operational processes, including transactional systems, customer support (in collaboration with the CEO's Customer Operations team), and settlement of crypto transactions.
- Optimizes and streamlines operational workflows to enhance efficiency and minimize operational risks.
- Establishes and maintains Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operational processes.
- Ensures adequate capacity planning and resource management to meet growing demand.
Risk Management - Specific MiCAR Focus- Develops, implements, and maintains a comprehensive operational risk management system in accordance with MiCAR requirements. This includes:
- Identification, measurement, monitoring, control, and reporting of operational risks.
- Management of crypto-specific risks such as smart contract risks, custodial risks, and consensus mechanism risks.
- Development and implementation of contingency plans and Business Continuity Management (BCM) strategies.
- Collaborates closely with the Head of Compliance to ensure that risk policies and procedures align seamlessly with AML/CFT and other compliance requirements.
- Responsible for establishing and safeguarding segregation of client assets in accordance with MiCAR requirements, including control over private keys and custody solutions.
- Coordinates the risk management function with internal audit and regulatory authorities.
IT & Cybersecurity (Security) - Specific DORA & MiCAR Focus- Ultimately responsible for the IT infrastructure, software development, platform security, and cyber resilience of Altery Connect B.V.
- Develops and implements a robust IT and cybersecurity strategy that complies with MiCAR and, specifically, the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). This includes:
- Management of ICT risks and establishment of the information register for third-party ICT providers.
- Implementation of stringent access controls, encryption protocols, and network security.
- Regular execution of penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and cyber resilience testing (e.g., Threat-Led Penetration Testing).
- Establishment of an effective incident response plan for ICT-related incidents and reporting thereof to the supervisory authority (AFM/DNB).
- Manages external vendors for IT services and technology, ensuring contractual agreements comply with DORA requirements.
- Ensures adequate data integrity, data governance, and privacy (AVG/GDPR).
Technological Innovation & Scalability- Identifies and evaluates new technologies that can improve the operational efficiency, security, and scalability of the platform.
- Guides the implementation of new systems and tools.
- Ensures a technology roadmap that supports the growth objectives of Altery Group.
What You’ll Bring To Us
- Education: Master’s degree in (Technical) Business Administration, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Financial Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in a senior operational role within financial services, preferably in the fintech, crypto, or high-tech sector.
- Demonstrable in-depth expertise and experience in IT security, cyber resilience, and operational risk management.
- Profound knowledge of and demonstrable experience with the implementation of MiCAR requirements, specifically concerning operational risk management, IT governance, and the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA).
- Experience in establishing and managing robust infrastructure for critical financial systems.
- Experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of and experience with custody solutions and private key management is a strong plus.
