Functieomschrijving

Design the ship systems that make complex offshore projects possible.

Spend ~60–70% hands-on with design and calculations while guiding a small team and working directly with shipyards, vendors, clients and class. You’ll integrate propulsion, fuel, cooling, firefighting and other auxiliary systems for newbuilds and conversions.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead systems design & integration: P&IDs, machinery layouts, equipment arrangements and system sizing.
  • Keep it class-compliant: align with DNV/ABS/LR and relevant maritime standards.
  • Coordinate scope, hours and budgets with project managers and clients.
  • Review and sign off on deliverables; mentor engineers/drafters.
  • Act as the technical focal point for shipyards and suppliers.

What you bring:

  • BSc/MSc in Mechanical/Marine (or similar).
  • 8+ years in marine machinery/systems design and integration.
  • Strong grasp of piping, machinery arrangements, propulsion and technical spaces.
  • Proficiency with design/analysis tools (e.g., Solid Edge, FEA/FEM a plus).
  • Comfortable leading projects while staying hands-on.
  • Fluent English; Dutch not required.

Why you’ll like it here:

You’ll make decisions in a flat, engineering-first team with direct client/class lines; work hybrid with competitive compensation; and tackle technically deep projects—from vessel conversions to next-gen propulsion concepts—alongside colleagues across Europe, Asia and the U.S.

EU candidates are encouraged to apply.
