Two seats, same job: be the person who actually fixes it.
A multinational defence service line in The Hague keeps its own systems, networks and end-user equipment running around the clock. You would be part of that team on site - installing, configuring, diagnosing and, when your week on the rota comes round, answering immediately.
What you would be doing
- Installing, configuring and removing hardware and software, testing what you have done and recording what now exists
- Watching operational systems for load and failure, tuning them, and taking new versions of system software through test into service
- Carrying out network maintenance and configuration work, and diagnosing faults with a proper method and proper tools
- Taking second-line tickets to resolution against agreed response targets, including your share of the immediate on-call rota
- Helping with the design, test and on-site support of engineering changes to the service, on top of day-to-day operations
What you would bring
- Several years of implementing and maintaining ICT end systems inside a large organisation
- Confidence configuring hardware and software, and the independence to solve a problem alone
- Troubleshooting under pressure with users waiting, and the patience that goes with it
- Useful extras: networking (TCP/IP, VPN, VLAN, firewall, DNS), server hosting and storage configuration, log analysis, packet capture, some scripting or development
- ITIL training, and professional English
